Thursday, June 2, 2011 The following article was taken from www.firefighterclosecalls.comA Flanders Fire & Rescue Company (Mt Olive Township, Morris County, NJ) Officer died in the Line of Duty today after responding on a run at Mountainview Elementary School. The death of Assistant Fire Chief Thomas Shields, 42, is being called the first line-of-duty death for the Flanders fire company since 1927.The husband and father of two responded to the school because a student reportedly became overheated. The child was fine and Chief Shields returned to the firehouse and then headed home, feeling ill. He told his wife he was having chest pains, EMS responded but tragically Chief Shields died at Saint Clare's Hospital in Denville. As always our most sincere condolences to all affected by this loss. Wednesday, June 1, 2011 Congratulations to Ex- Chief Craig Ally and wife Katie on the birth of their first child! Conner Ally was born today weighing in at 7 lbs 3 oz and 19 3/4 inches. All the members would like to wish Craig and Katie best wishes on the new addition to their family.
Wednesday, June 1, 2011 Just past 2300 hrs, Bridgewater PD dispatched Finderne Fire to the abandoned gas station at the corner of USHY 22 East and Thompson Ave. 30 - A1 called in service and was updated by PD that multiple calls were received on the incident. As Engine 102 was called into service, they were updated by A1 that it was negative on a structure fire, and only a couch was burning in the parking lot with no exposures. The assignment was held to Engine 102 while Engine 101, Truck 30 and Rescue 1 stood by in headquarters.

Monday, May 30, 2011 On Monday, May 30th, the Finderne Fire Department participated in Bridgewater Township's annual Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony.The parade has been a town tradition since 1868, when it was founded as a solemn tribute to Civil War veterans.
Sunday, May 29, 2011 Just past 1900 hrs, Bound Brook Fire Department was dispatched to West Main St. and Vosseller Ave. for a reported structure fire. Bound Brook PD arrived on scene and reported heavy fire on division 2 of a 2 1/2 story residential building. At this time, 23-C3 Asst. Chief Gullia requested Finderne Fire Department for an Engine and Truck. 30-A1 Chief Mangino arrived on scene and advised Engine 102 and Truck 30 that, on arrival, all crews would be going to work. Engine 102 arrived on scene and was given the order to assist with interior operations. Truck 30’s crew was given the order to vent the roof. Rescue 1 also responded to the scene with manpower. All Finderne units cleared the scene within two hours.
Wednesday, May 25, 2011 At 1918 hrs, Finderne Fire’s Engine 102 and Truck 30 were requested into Bound Brook for a working fire in a private dwelling on Carleton St. The Engine and Truck responded and, on arrival, were given the order to act as the FAST Team until Station 56 arrived. Due to a quick knock down of the fire, Station 56 was cancelled. Engines 102 and Truck 30 cleared the scene shortly after.

Sunday, May 15, 2011 At 2159 hrs, Finderne Fire and Bound Brook Rescue Squad were dispatched to USHY 22 East at the intersection of Thompson Avenue, for an overturned motor vehicle with negative entrapment. Engine 102 was first due and responded non-emergency to the scene. The Engine cleared the scene once the vehicle was up-righted.

Saturday, May 14, 2011 From 4pm to 11pm, Finderne Fire Department staffed Engine 101 to cover the Borough of Bound Brook, while they held their annual carnival. Finderne’s crew was also assisted by Tower 42 from Manville.
